Where to begin
- Specify the purpose, amount, timing and what the business can contribute. Test whether the plan works if the money arrives late or not at all.
- Compare grants, subsidies, repayable loans and investment separately. Look for conditions, security, contribution, repayment and dilution.
- Check official eligibility and application windows, then prepare a realistic budget and evidence. An application is not an entitlement.

For each option record the intended use, amount and timing, own contribution, conditions, fees and what happens if milestones are missed. A loan requires repayment; a subsidy may be linked to a loan or reimbursement; equity can change ownership. Do not treat a credit guarantee as cash given to the borrower.
Check current notices and ask the administering agency or lender about the specific project. Some schemes have provisions for eligible women or rural applicants, but general programmes can also be relevant and eligibility is never automatic.
