Where to begin
- Track sales, direct costs, payment dates and repeat customers. Profit and cash available in the bank are different measures.
- Review invoicing, records, registrations and any permits for what and where you sell. Set aside time to check upcoming obligations.
- Talk to customers about what they value; improve the offer and compare sales channels after accounting for fees, delivery and returns.
Turn sales into a dependable operation
Review each offer's selling price against direct costs, including transport and platform charges. Then compare total collections with rent, wages, loan payments and other commitments. A sale on credit increases revenue before the cash is received, so track overdue payments separately.
Ask existing buyers why they return or stop buying. Record recurring quality or delivery issues, decide which one to fix first and check the effect before adding another channel. Keep receipts and invoices organised for the applicable tax and registration requirements.
